Game feel enhancement! - Bridger
Bridger » Devlog
As previously announced, (in my update post a few weeks ago), I plan to keep improving my programming works as I get better over time. Bridger is a game that I'm getting prouder as it becomes more advanced as it shows my improvement of skill. I have been working to improve it significantly since the Godot Wild Jam, which it originally took part in. I have noticed that a lot of my recent games lack proper game feel, therefore this was the focus of this update. I still plan to add accessibility features in the future. Feel free to leave comments as to what I can improve on.
Changes
- New biome themes for every level (Mushroom Forest, Snowy Icecaps, Darkened Desert and Jivey Jungle).
- Updated the number of bridges allowed to be used each level.
- New tooltips to help the player progress through the game.
- Replacement of music, now with a more dynamic and flowing track. I was thinking of expanding this to create different tracks per level.
- New button themes, with colors which are themed by the level.
- New menu button to allow you to go back and forth between levels.
- Enemies now spawn in multiple colours!
- New game thumbnail.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where instances of the menu will load while you are still playing a level (which happened after enemy collision).
Future plans
The game is still a small game idea for now, but I will continue expanding. Some of the features may include:
- Some harder levels to challenge players.
- Different music for each level.
- Better placement UI.
- Improved tilemap movement.
- Better controls with the ability to remap them.
- Clearer goals with signposting to lead the player.
- Removal of bugs.
- More bridge types.
- More Water types.
- Better layout of description.
- Add accessibility features.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!
